Rapid Moisture Meter

Rapid Moisture Meter – High-Precision Moisture Testing Equipment (IS 2720 Part II Compliant)

Our Rapid Moisture Meter is a precision instrument designed for the quick and accurate determination of moisture content in powdery materials such as coal, pottery slip, soil, sand, cement, and more. Manufactured according to IS 2720 (Part II) standards, this device provides reliable moisture readings on both wet and dry weight basis, making it ideal for laboratories, construction sites, and industrial quality control.

    Product Overview

The Rapid Moisture Meter works on the principle of acetylene gas generation. When calcium carbide reacts with moisture in the sample, acetylene gas is produced, creating pressure inside a sealed vessel. The pressure is measured using a calibrated gauge, which directly specifies moisture content on wet weight basis and can be easily converted to dry weight basis.

This high-quality instrument is designed for accuracy, durability, and ease of use, making it an essential tool for geotechnical labs, industrial testing, and construction quality assurance.

    Technical Description & Components

      • Pressure Vessel: Rubber sealing gasket with clamp for secure sealing

      • Pressure Gauge: Calibrated in 0–25% or 0–50% moisture content on wet weight basis

      • Calcium Carbide Reagent: 1 bottle (~450 g) for generating acetylene gas

      • Sample Scoop: For accurately measuring carbide reagent

      • Weighing Balance: Counterpoised for precise sample weight

      • Mixing Steel Balls: Ensures thorough mixing of sample and reagent

      • Cleaning Brush: For easy maintenance of vessel

      • Carrying Case: Wooden box with handle for portability

    Working Principle

    • A pre-weighed sample is mixed with a specific quantity of calcium carbide reagent.

    • The mixture is placed in a pressure vessel and thoroughly shaken with steel balls.

    • Acetylene gas generated reacts with moisture, producing pressure inside the vessel.

    • The pressure gauge measures the moisture content on a wet weight basis, which can be converted to dry weight basis.
