Blain Air Permeability Apparatus
The Blain Air Permeability Apparatus is designed for precise determination of fineness of cement, pozzolanas, and other powdery materials. The fineness is expressed as total surface area in cm² per gram of material under test, providing critical quality data for construction and laboratory applications.
The apparatus consists of a standard brass permeability cell (12.5 mm inside diameter) with a perforated metal disc and plunger, a U-tube glass manometer with rubber coupling mounted on a wooden stand, latex rubber tubing (20 cm long), filter paper discs, and 250 ml dibutyl phthalate liquid. This setup ensures accurate measurement of powder fineness and is widely used in civil engineering laboratories, cement quality control, and research facilities.
